Meet Spencer!  Or should I say, "Dr. Spencer?" This adorable 2-year-old from Muhlenberg County, Kentucky is embarking on a fundraising mission that will benefit other kids. He's selling gumballs and candy to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Spencer's mom Rhiannon shared the news and a photo of Spencer's gumball machine on social media a couple of days ago.

She wrote, "To most this looks like an everyday gumball machine, but to my 2-year-old this is so much more."

Rhiannon then explained how she's going to use that machine to help Spencer learn the importance of two things: 1) saving money and 2) helping others.

That gumball machine sits on the screened in porch of his Gimmy and Poppy. Those are my friends Kim and Kerry Byrd.

Rhiannon, by the way, is Kim's daughter. She explains, "The gumballs are .25 cents and the mixed candy is .10 cents a piece." Spencer will get to keep all the quarters he earns, but he'll have to restock his supply with that money.  As for the dimes he makes? Those will go directly to charity and that's something Spencer has already been introduced to.

Last year, Kim, Rhiannon and Spencer took a big donation to Christmas Wish and Rhiannon says Spencer loved doing that. She says, "The joy on my son's face of packing in items to donate to kids/parents in need warmed my heart so much."

With the gumball machine at Gimmy's, Spencer is going to carry on the tradition of helping others. In fact, he's basically creating a new tradition.  All of his dimes raised from the sale of his gumballs and candy are going to be donated to St. Jude and those proceeds will be donated to the annual WBKR/Window World St. Jude Radiothon.

Kim and Rhiannon both say this will become a yearly event and the ultimate goal, in a few years, is to take Spencer to St. Jude so he can hand-deliver his donations and interact with some of the patients and their families.

In the meantime, Rhiannon has one more request- "Y'all, be sure to have those quarters and dimes ready cause my kiddo is beyond excited about this. He's already put some of his own money in to get candy out!"
