Modern Family’s ‘Lily’ Drops F-Bomb On Tonight’s Episode Draws Criticism
ABC TV’s ‘Modern Family’ is one of the most popular shows on television right now, in fact, the show won a Golden Globe last Sunday night and won an Emmy Award last fall for best comedy. Tonight’s episode, (if it airs), will be a groundbreaker in that, ‘Lily’, the adopted daughter of ‘Cam’ and ‘Mitchell’, will drop what appears to be the F-Bomb as she serves as a flower girl in a wedding.

A group called the “No Cussing Club” is not happy and is asking ABC to pull tonight’s episode because having a toddler use that word crosses a line.
McKay Hatch, 18, who founded the club says, “Our main goal is to stop this from happening. If we don’t, at least ABC knows that poeople all over the world don’t want to have a 2-year-old saying the ‘F-bomb on TV.” The club’s members numbers about 35,000 in the U.S. and about three dozen other countries.
ABC is yet to respond. The episode is titled “Little Bo Bleep” and airs tonight. The producers explained the actress actually says the word ’fudge’ during taping and a bleep will be inserted when she says the word, and her mouth will be obscured by pixilation to create the image that she did in fact say the F-word.
The issue of profanity on TV went before the Supreme Court just last week by over-the-air broadcast stations who question their restrictions about language and nudity on broadcast TV when cable abd satellite services have few restrictions. What do you think?
