Mesker Park Zoo and Botanical Garden is bursting with pride about it’s newest addition – a baby Hyacinth Macaw!

This is the second chick hatched by the pair of parents currently at the zoo.  The species is on the endangered list because of its popularity as a domestic pet.

Hyacinth Macaws are found in the forests of Central South America, mainly in Brazil.  They are the largest member of the Macaw family.

You can see the new Hyacinth Macaw chick in the Discovery Center at Mesker Park Zoo and Botanical Garden.
