Leslie Thanks the Invisible Woman in Honor of Her Mother
You know how you are just browsing statuses on Facebook and suddenly something hits you? You read something or see something you didn’t expect? Well, that is exactly what happened to me when I saw this incredible video.
While watching this video, I couldn’t help but think of my beautiful mother and want to thank her and ALL mothers for giving us their ‘invisible’ selves. Mothers are artists, creating their own amazing masterpieces. They do this without knowing if anybody will truly appreciate it – but it doesn’t matter.
Bestselling author, performer, and motivational speaker, Nicole Johnson, gave a motivational speech about every taken-for-granted woman in today’s world. And I saw myself, my sister, my friends and my mom.
My mom, Sandy, (I know…you’re shocked, I normally call her Bar Wench LOL) is the BEST mom anybody could ever have. I feel blessed that God put her in my life. She IS the woman that Nicole is talking about. I know there were many times when my siblings AND dad made her feel invisible. And for THAT I am sorry and want her to know that although we ignored her at times, she WAS and is ALWAYS at the forefront of my mind. Even though, at times, she might have felt invisible, she was actually the MOST visible. All my life, she has been my cloak of protection and my calm in the storm. With her gentle spirit she carved my being, instilling in me confidence, strength and grace. She did all she did as if no one was watching but someone WAS watching and listening…ME. I strive to be like her everyday – to wear her sweet smile, to speak with her intelligent mind, to comfort with her soft arms, beautiful smell and healing hands.
So, thank you to all of the invisible women who grace the earth. You are the reason there is peace, hope and love.
I love you, Mom…
