Keith Urban Talks Surprising Contestants in New ‘American Idol’ Commercial
Keith Urban plays the starring role in a new ‘American Idol’ commercial. The first-time ‘Idol’ judge chats with the camera about the contestants who surprised him during the audition process for the show’s upcoming 12th season.
“Sometimes, I think you can tell immediately when they walk in the room that they have it,” Urban says in the promo spot. “And other times they can transform. It’s crazy.”
In between the country crooner’s interview, the commercial cuts to a preview of a girl who starts out her audition a little nervously, but by the end of the clip, she’s belting it out. We have a feeling we’ll be seeing more of her when the new season of ‘Idol’ premieres in January.
“A complete transformation,” Urban says affectionately about some of the ‘Idol’ auditioners. “It literally throws us back in our chairs.”
Despite any rumors of Urban being unhappy with his new reality TV gig, he looks absolutely excited about his role in this latest ‘American Idol’ spot. This taste of what’s to come makes Season 12 sound promising!
