I'm pretty excited to tell you that I lost 45 pounds this year. A lot of people asked me how I did it. Well, there's a lot to it but the biggest thing I've done is changed my eating habits. Now, I never had a really bad diet but I have noticed that I have really started watching what goes in my mouth because now if I eat something that's high in fat, my stomach hurts!

This past weekend, I made tacos. Delicious, right? Good for you, right? Well, let's see here. I use a service called Spark People to keep track of all the food, water and exercise I get. It's pretty amazing how fast the calories pile up if you aren't careful.

Here's the breakdown. The first number is calories, followed by carbs and fat. 834 calories for THREE TACOS! And, that's only TWO OZ of meat on each taco!

So, how can we make that much better and not cut the flavor? Easy!

1. Rinse Your Meat

This might sound weird but put your hamburger meat in a strainer and run hot water over it before adding the taco seasoning. This cuts your fat by 50% and saves you 70 calories!

2. Add a Can of Black Beans to Your Meat

These are healthy, delicious and you can have twice the "meat" in your taco! This saves you 90 calories!

3. Use Reduced Fat Sargento Cheese

This will cut 40 calories from your meal.

There you have it. You just reduced your dinner by 200+ calories without sacrificing tasteor quality.

BONUS: 150 Calories

If you really want to get crazy, ditch the shells and enjoy on a bed of greens and tomatoes and reduce your cheese to a sprinkle.

Enjoy!
