Since the world seems to be returning to some sense of normalcy over the past few months, and country artists feel comfortable getting back out on stage to perform in front of thousands of screaming fans, the Evansville area has reaped the benefits with a number of those artists making the decision to bring their tours to the area. That includes Gary Allan who has announced he's stopping by the Old National Events Plaza in August in support of his latest album, Ruthless.

Gary Allen Announces Evansville Concert

Born in La Miranda, California, Allan comes from a musical family and started playing guitar when he was a kid. In a 2002 interview with Laurie Paulik for Mountain West Music, Gary said he started playing in bars with his dad, Harley, at the age of 13. His mom also encouraged his talent, making sure the family guitars were left out in the open because she feared if they were put away they'd be forgotten. After a couple of years of playing with his dad, he caught the attention of A&R Records who offered him a record deal at the age of 15. Despite their encouragement of his talents, the family turned down the offer so Gary could finish his education.

It wasn't until 1995 when Gary landed his first record deal and officially began his career as a singer-songwriter. Over the last 25+ years, Gary has released 11 albums, five of which have been certified gold for over 500,000 copies sold, and three of which have been certified platinum for over 1,000,000 copies sold. He's had four number one hits including "Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain)" from his 2013 album, Set You Free.
