Evansville Animal Control

Many times when we think about Evansville Animal Control and other shelters in the Tri-State, we picture animals like dogs and cats, maybe the occasional rabbit.  However, there are many kinds of animals that come through local shelter doors and are looking for their forever homes.  For instance, I've seen pigs, ferrets, guinea pigs, and goats end up in local shelters, but none have had a name quite this punny!

Meet Wyatt Chirp

Every week the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office and Evansville Police Department post a rescue roundup, where they share a photo of an officer with an adoptable animal from Evansville Animal Control, to help get the word out.  This week's rescue is a rooster with an outlaw name that made me laugh out loud.

Here is what they had to say about Wyatt Chirp:

Wyatt Chirp is this week's featured Friday Rescue Roundup. He is just one of the roosters at Animal Control. Wyatt was appre-hen-ded a little over a month ago and appears to be younger. He is no jailbird; he longs to be free with a flock to call his own.
If you're looking for a loyal guy to tend your flock, head over to 815 Uhlhorn to check out Wyatt and his rooster friends today!
SO MANY GOOD PUNS HERE. Of course, if you didn't get it by the name, Wyatt Chirp is named after one of the most notorious outlaws in American history, Wyatt Earp.  Wyatt Earp was involved in the infamous gunfight at the O.K. Corral if you need a little history refresher.

Not the Right Fit For You?

Maybe you don't have the proper flock for Wyatt Chirp to saddle up to (LAST PUN I PROMISE), but that's okay. Maybe you're more of a dog or cat person who is looking to add a furry companion to their home.  Evansville Animal Control has many other adoptable animals who are looking for their forever homes.
