Illinois Lawmakers may Pass a Law No Other State has...

Not only would Illinois be the only state in the country that passes this unique law, but it is a law that doesn't make any sense...

According to an article in The Pantagraph, Illinois lawmakers are considering making a law that would give "Mental Wellness" days to kids in college. This would be an expansion of the already passed law in Illinois that gives mental wellness days to kids in K-12 schools in Illinois.

In the article, they say "The bill would require all public colleges and universities in Illinois to implement a student mental wellness day policy that would allow students at least five mental health days per academic year." To read more about this possible first-of-its-kind law, click here!

Why???

Am I the only one who thinks this is completely unnecessary??? When I was in college (which was only 11 years ago not 20, 30, or 40 years ago) if you needed a day off you just didn't go to class... Why now do adults in college need FIVE mental wellness days? Go to CLASS! That is what you're there for and if you're sick, email your teacher and stay up to date with lectures and assignments. If you need FIVE mental wellness days to get through COLLEGE...maybe college isn't for you. Is that cruel? I think it's honest. Am I the only one who thinks this is an unnecessary law, or are you in agreement with me?

PS... I will add that I FULLY SUPPORT the mental wellness days for KIDS in K-12, they are KIDS, and they need to be taken care of. But if you are in college 99.999% of students are 18+ so I have less sympathy for them, you are CHOOSING to be in college no one is forcing you to go.
