‘American Idol’ Hosting Virtual Midwest Auditions September 18th

Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Scotty McCreery are all household names, but that wasn't always the case. Before they became huge music stars they were just like you and me. Everyday people working everyday jobs with dreams of doing something bigger. Fortunately, they also happened to be blessed with terrific voices and the ability to carry a tune. Thanks to American Idol, they were able to make those dreams a reality. The show is currently in the process of doing the same for you or someone you know with a great singing voice ahead of its upcoming season with virtual auditions for those of us who call the Midwest home.

The upcoming season will be the show's seventh on ABC, and 22nd overall, and will see Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Ritchie all return to the judge's table. Of course, Ryan Seacrest will also be back to host.

As they've done since the pandemic, producers of the show are using video conferencing technology (Zoom, specifically) to conduct auditions instead of traveling to different cities around the country and packing a ton of people into large venues or convention centers for one or multiple days. Honestly, and this is just my opinion, going this route likely opens the process up to more people who couldn't make the trip to the nearest city to audition in person for whatever reason.

The Midwest Open Call will happen on Monday, September 18th for anyone who believes they have what it takes to wear the crown as the next American Idol. As you probably guessed, there are some criteria you need to meet and some rules you need to follow which you can find here.
