If you listen to the show (weekdays from 5:00 to 10:00 a.m. - shameless plug), you've likely heard me talk about how much my wife and I like to cook at our house. And not just the cooking, I personally enjoy the whole process of finding a meal to make, going to the store to get the ingredients, then putting it all together to (hopefully) create a delicious meal everyone will like. In the 20-plus years we've been together, we've collected a number of cookbooks and cooking magazines, all total filled with thousands upon thousands of recipes. But the thought of searching through each and every one of them every week just to find five or six meals just about kills my desire to make anything. Fortunately, the internet and mobile apps are a thing, and I found one that not only opens me up to a whole new world of recipe ideas, it also makes it easy to narrow down the exact kind of recipe I'm looking for.

It's called Yummly, and essentially it's a search engine for recipes. Yes, you can Google "chicken recipes," but you'll end up with millions upon millions of results. Whole chicken recipes, chicken breast recipes, chicken wing recipes, baking, frying, the list goes on and on, and it can get overwhelming quick. Yummly narrows things down by asking you specific questions on what it is your looking for, then shows you recipes from food blogs across the web based on your answers. See how it works in the video above.

FYI: I am not being paid by Yummly, or whoever owns it. I'm just a really big fan of this app, and thought you'd like to know about it.

Speaking of apps, if you don't have ours, why not grab it too? Like Yummly, it's free. And unlike Yummly (to my knowledge anyway), you can win free stuff with it every once in a while like concert tickets, and trips. Just enter your phone number in the box below to get it.
