Jake Owen Returns to Top of the Charts With ‘The One That Got Away’
Jake Owen is having one heck of a week. Not only did he welcome a brand new baby girl into the world on Thanksgiving Day, but the singer is now celebrating his third consecutive No. 1 hit single. This week, Owen is back at the top with 'The One That Got Away.'
"Didn't think my world could get any better.. Having a child and #1 song in the same week is something I'll never forget," Owen tweeted Monday morning, adding, "THANK YOU ALL! Wow."
The tune, penned by Owen, BMI's 2011 and 2012 Songwriter of the Year Dallas Davidson and Jimmy Ritchey, is the third release from the singer's latest studio album, 'Barefoot Blue Jean Night,' which has also spawned the chart-topping title track, as well as his previous hit, 'Alone With You.'
“It’s about falling in love and having a summer love and never seeing them again,” Davidson told us of 'The One That Got Away' lyrics. "We all had summer flings... all the girls would come in and fall in love with a local, then they leave and are never to be seen again. I'm real proud of [this song].”
Waiting in the runner-up position on the charts this week is Owen's CMT on Tour opening act Florida Georgia Line with their debut single, 'Cruise.' Also rounding out the Top 10 are songs from Rascal Flatts ('Come Wake Me Up'), Kip Moore ('Beer Money'), Justin Moore (''Til My Last Day'), Zac Brown Band ('Goodbye In Her Eyes'), Greg Bates ('Did It for the Girl') and Eric Church ('Creepin'').
