Over the weekend, something incredible happened. You really have to see it to believe it, and when you do, the first thought in your head will probably be, "Wow, that is VERY on brand for Kentucky."

Dukes of Hazzard "General Lee"

One of the most recognizable TV cars of all time is that bright orange-red 1969 Dodge Charger with the Confederate flag painted on top. The General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard had this magical ability to fly through the air over hills and other cars and land without a scratch. It honestly became its own character in the show.

How Many General Lees Were Used in The Dukes of Hazzard?

Although in reality, 1-2 cars were destroyed and scrapped per episode. The way that math shakes out, over 300 versions of the vehicle met their demise for the sake of epic stunts. Another one (kinda) was added to that number this weekend in downtown Somerset, KY. The Somernites Cruise is a classic car event that welcomed over 35,000 people on Saturday to watch the main event.

General Lee Jump in Somerset, KY

Stunt driver Raymond Kohn completed his 30th General Lee jump over the town square fountain in front of thousands of excited audience members who captured every angle on camera. Two Dukes of Hazzard stars were also there, John Schneider, who played Bo Duke, and Byron Cherry, who played Coy Duke.

Dukes of Hazzard Stunt Jump Over Kentucky Fountain

Here is another one from the rooftops!

@cbsnews More than 35,000 people watched a “General Lee” replica from the 1979 show, “The Dukes of Hazzard,” jump over a fountain in Somerset, Kentucky on Saturday. The car soared over the town fountain before landing and crashing into barricades. #dodge #charger #cartok #somerset #kentucky #dukesofhazzard ♬ original sound - cbsnews

1969 Dodge Charger or Crown Victoria?

And what the car looked like once it came to a stop. I learned in the comments that this car is actually made from a Crown Victoria kit. So, not an actual 1969 Dodge Charger, which is rarer these days. Maybe because of how many were used on the show?

Also, to add a hilarious yet unfortunate cherry on top, someone was arrested right before the jump. Wait til the end of the video to see who is waving from the rooftops. When I say I cackled!

@mck.ray I think some dude getting arrested before the general lee jumps the fountain square and taken straight to the police station while boss Hogg waves on top of the roof really topped off the show. 😂 ##generallee##jump##downtownsomersetky##606##somerset##fyppppppppppppppppppppppp##somernitescruise##thedukesofhazzard ♬ Only In America - Brooks & Dunn
