After months of wondering if it was gone for good, the bargain king is officially returning with home essentials, snacks, furniture, and all the finds you love in Jasper, Indiana. Big Lots is officially reopening at Southgate Shopping Center! We have the exciting details.

Let’s be real! People love a deal. Big Lots is known for offering name-brand and off-brand items at seriously discounted prices. The thrill of finding something awesome for way less is exciting. Do you agree?

This is why it was so sad when Big Lots began closing stores in late 2024 and into early 2025 (including Owensboro and Evansville locations), after experiencing serious financial trouble.

BIG LOTS CLOSURES

In October 2024, Big Lots filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which allows a business to reorganize while shedding debt and unprofitable assets. That’s when they announced plans to close all remaining stores unless a buyer stepped in.

POSITIVE NEWS FOR BIG LOTS

Enter Variety Wholesalers (the folks behind Roses and Maxway), who struck a deal to acquire 200–400 stores, keeping the Big Lots name and reopening locations. The question remained, which locations would make the cut? We finally have some of those answers!
