A Unique Gift

Every year, we surprise my mother-in-law with a special birthday gift—usually tickets to a Christian concert we know she’ll enjoy. It’s always a win-win: she has a wonderful time, and it’s such a simple yet meaningful gift. But this year, we decided to do something different. Instead of giving her tickets, we wanted to offer her a unique experience.

She had been talking for a while about wanting to join my daughter and me for a horseback riding lesson. We board our horse at Double M Stables, and she often comments on how much fun we have out on the trails. So, we decided to make it happen. I booked her a one-hour horseback riding lesson with a mini trail ride.

She started with the basics, learning to steer and stop, after mounting her trusty steed, Pepper. He’s a big guy, but an absolute gentleman! After getting comfortable, she had some time to practice riding on her own before we all headed out into the woods for the trail ride.

We captured so many cute pictures and made some incredible memories. Grammy doesn’t know it yet, but one of those photos is getting framed for her Christmas gift!

Experiences in the Evansville Owensboro Area that People Want as Gifts

With so much emphasis on "stuff" these days, we’ve been trying to focus on memorable activities that also support local businesses. We love giving experience-based gifts and are always on the lookout for new ideas in our community. To gather even more inspiration, we asked our Facebook followers for suggestions, and the ideas they shared were amazing!
