40th Anniversary of The Movie, "Sixteen Candles"

One thing I miss from back in the day is the whole going to the movies experience. It's just not the same anymore. There are so many more released every year and so many different ways to watch them, when a new flick comes out it doesn't seem special.

When I was growing up, going to the movies was a big deal. In high school, my friends and I would go all the time. There were even the $1 theaters where you could see your favorite films over and over again. It's such great memories.

One of the biggest movie producers, directors, and writers was John Hughes. Whenever he released something new, that was a big deal. He did some of my favorite films as a teen. That made a huge impact on me.

One of my favorites is "Sixteen Candles" which took place in the suburbs of Chicago. It's hard to believe that this year is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its release. I still watch it if I happen upon it while flipping through the TV channels.

The Hobart Art Theater will be hosting a very special 40th anniversary of "Sixteen Candles" event. There will be a screening of the movie along with a special appearance by one of the stars, Anthony Michael Hall. There will be a Q & A session.

Plus, Hall will have some fun stories to share. There will be opportunities for fans the meet him along with getting autographs and photo ops. It will be an awesome flashback to the 80s.
