The Secretary of State's office in Illinois has changed the hours of operation for DMV facilities in our state to better serve the residents.

New Hours For DMV Locations In Illinois

Do you remember when going to any DMV location in the state of Illinois was a total nightmare? You pretty much had to plan on being there all day. It was a horrible experience that you had to deal with every few years.

When Covid hit the DMV locations were closed for so long, and the experience at the facilities got even worse. Who even thought that was possible? Luckily, there have been some changes made to the operations to make the experience better for residents.

First of all, some of the things you can now do online which makes it much easier. Of course, there's a service fee but it's so worth it. Also, there are some express locations open for residents that have simple things to take care of like renewing your license and registration.

When I renewed my driver's license back in the spring it was a much better experience in the facility because everything was by appointment only. I was out of there in fifteen minutes. I was super excited about that one.

Recently, another change was made to make the lives of residents much easier. The Secretary of State adjusted the hours of operation. Since most customers prefer going to the DMV in the morning, you can now get started earlier in the day.

Now, Monday through Friday the majority of the DMV locations are open a half-hour earlier at 7:30 am instead of 8. They stay open until 5 pm. On Saturdays, most of the facilities are now working from 7:30 am to noon. Make sure you check ahead of time to know for sure.
