Illinois Zoo’s $500 Million Plan for ‘New Immersive Experiences’
Well, they are certainly ambitious plans. The Chicago, Illinois zoo has designs on what they hope will transform their facility in the short term and carrying on for the next 15 years that will result in what they call 'new immersive experiences'.
If you're already a fan of the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago, Illinois, this will likely make you even more so. They have just unveiled their "Next Century Plan" and it's exotic in how they hope to transform the zoo that's already present and expand it westward which will enable them to offer new landscape types.
There are 4 main categories of improvement that Brookfield Zoo hopes to add:
- Expansion and Enhancement
- Innovative Animal Habitats
- Unprecedented Guest Experience
- Substantial Investment
That investment is in the neighborhood of $500 million dollars according to their website. Part of that money will go toward elevating the care and comfort of their animals, too. Accessibility for all no matter what their physical challenges are will also reportedly be a priority.
The improvements planned for Brookfield Zoo in Chicago is expected to continue with a crescendo peaking around their centennial year in 2034.
If my understanding of their plan from their video share is accurate, you'll start to see improvements almost constantly as they begin to deploy this massive upgrade of the Brookfield Zoo. Time will literally tell the tale of how successful it will be.
