Report: Matthew McConaughey No Longer Attached to ‘Yellowstone’ Sequel — But These Surprising Actors Are!
There's good news and (maybe?) bad news for Yellowstone fans who've been looking forward to the long-anticipated sequel to the show, which is supposed to launch after Yellowstone's final episodes of Season 5.
Yellowstone is slated to come to an end with the final episodes of Season 5, Part 2, which are slated to begin airing in November. After that, a sequel is set to air, but the details of that planned sequel have changed significantly, according to a new report.
TV Line reports that the Yellowstone sequel — which was tentatively titled 2024 — is now titled The Madison, and Matthew McConaughey — who was long rumored to headline the show — no longer appears to be attached to the project.
According to TV Line, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell and Suits alum Patrick J. Adams are currently in negotiations for the new project, which is also currently casting for a number of supporting roles. Beau Garrett (Firefly Lane) is also reportedly in the running for the show, which is tentatively set to begin filming later in August in Montana, New York and Texas.

TV Line reports that the show will follow "wealthy matriarch Stacy Clyburn and her family as they leave New York City and head to Montana in the wake of her husband and brother-in-law’s tragic deaths in a plane crash."
Yellowstone stars Cole Hauser, Kelly Reilly and Luke Grimes were originally rumored to reprise their Yellowstone roles in the planned sequel. It's unclear if that's still the case, and it's also unclear if Kurt Russell is assuming the role originally slated for McConaughey, or originating a new role.
A representative for Paramount Network declined comment on TV Line's story.
Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 is set to premiere on Paramount Network on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 8PM ET, and the new episodes will bring the series to an end.
