Evansville and Indiana State Police Warn of Phone Scam Involving Vectren
The Evansville Police Department, along with the Indiana State Police, are warning residents of a new phone scam involving a con artist claiming to be with Vectren Energy.
According to tweets from both the EPD, and ISP Public Information Officer, Todd Ringle, the individual will call the victim demanding immediate payment of a bill using a prepaid debit card.
As Sergeant Ringle notes, Vectren will not ask for this type of payment.
If you, or someone you know, receives this call, Vectren encourages you to contact them at 1-800-227-1376, and be sure to visit their website for more information on how to report a scam or fraudulent activity with your Vectren account.
