You could win some "dough" for the best baked pie at the Newburgh Farmers Market Pie Contest this Saturday, July 13th.

Get those mixers, rolling pins, and ingredients ready for the 1st ever pie contest at the Downtown Newburgh Farmers Market.  All pie crusts must be made from scratch.  Frozen crusts with homemade filling won't cut it!

Here's the Pie Contest Rules:

  • Pies may be sweet or savory
  • Main ingredients (apples, blueberries, chicken, egg, beef, etc.) must be LOCALLY GROWN or RAISED
  • Crust must be made from scratch

No pre-registration for this contest!  Just bring your delicious baked pie with your name on a piece of tape and stick it on the bottom of your pan so that it can be returned to you.  All pies should be dropped off at the black Historic Newburgh Tent from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, Saturday, July 13th.

Also, bring along an index card with your name and phone number on one side and the recipe and ingredient list on the other side.  Even if this is a family secret recipe, you'll still need to include all ingredients along with the local ingredient used.

There will be two pie categories:

  • Sweet pies
  • Savory pies

Judging will take place from 10:30 am - noon.  The winner from each category will receive $100 and bragging rights for the year!

The Historic Newburgh Farmers Market is located at the Old Lock and Dam in downtown Newburgh.  Hours are from 8 am - 12 pm.

You'll find more details on the Newburgh Farmers Market Facebook.
