Blake Shelton Says John Legend Was the Wrong Choice for People’s Sexiest Man Alive
Blake Shelton's reign as People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive is over, but that doesn't mean he's conceding to his The Voice castmate, John Legend. In a new interview with Ellen Degeneres on Friday (Dec. 13), Shelton says People got it wrong when they chose Legend for the honor this year.
Shelton was People's Sexiest Man Alive in 2017, while Legend is the 2019 choice. But "I'm still the sexiest coach on the freakin' Voice," Shelton asserts in the clip above.
"I love People magazine," Shelton says, adding, "Everybody has the right to be wrong."
Shelton says he doesn't tease Legend about the matter, though.
"He lives in a parallel universe existence than the rest of us," he jokes. "He's very sensitive, so I don't pick on him about things like that."
Elsewhere in the interview, Shelton talks about his "Hell Right" duet with "grumpy" Trace Adkins, reflects on Nick Jonas joining The Voice and is introduced to a doll of himself, which comes complete with a cup and a tiny bottle of his Smithworks vodka. Shelton also took the stage on the Ellen DeGeneres Show to perform "Hell Right," which appears on his brand-new album, Fully Loaded: God's Country.
