When traveling, it is usually a good idea to put your valuables in the hotel safe and most hotels have a safe right there in your room, but how safe is the safe? In most cases, you can enter your own personal code on the front of the safe. A security consultant who was staying in a hotel in Canada recently and forgot his code, asked the hotel staff to open it and what he found out was very surprising. The safe has a default code that will open the safe and it is generally all zeros. The hotel staff informed him about this default code and opened his safe using 0000. Which means anybody who has access to your room and knows about the default code can access your safe and take your valuables.

Always check to make sure that all zeros is not the default code for your safe before you put anything in it and leave it unattended. If that code will open your safe, opt to check your goodies at the front desk. Did you ever have that feeling that someone had been going through your belongings? It's a scary feeling. Watch the video to make sure your safe is safe.
