Warrick High Schools Hosting Safety Nights Next Week

Next week, there will be three safety awareness nights for parents of Warrick County students. This is an initiative by the Warrick County School Board to help parents better understand protocols and terminology in the event that something were to happen. The safety awareness meetings come as a result of the "confusion surrounding a lockout that occurred earlier this year at Castle South and Castle North middle schools" according to The Warrick County Standard.

The lockout at Castle South and North began with a school shooting threat via Snapchat. It was later determined to be for a school in another state. Warrick County Schools had similar meetings last year, but the School Board felt that this year needs to be something that parents attend after the scare at Castle earlier this year. It's something that parents need to be aware of with all of the tragedies we have seen in the past few years.

The school safety awareness nights will be held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday next week at the three high schools in Warrick County.

• Tuesday-Castle High School at 6 p.m. in the community room
• Wednesday- Boonville High School at 6 p.m. in the auditorium
• Thursday-Tecumseh High School at 6 p.m. in the auditorium

Parents can expect to learn more about the standard response protocol, lockdowns, lockouts, evacuations, shelter and reunification according to The Warrick County Standard. You should plan to attend at least one of these meetings if you have children in Warrick County. While there, you can have all of your questions and concerns about school safety answered.
