Historic Newburgh Wine, Art and Jazz Festival
Friday evening, May 17th, the Soiree starts at 6:30 pm and ends at 9 pm with the sounds of the Second Street Band and the dance moves of the Swing Cats. Enjoy hearty hors d’oeuvres and sweets from 14 local restaurants. For you beer lovers, Turonis will be returning with samples of their craft beer. The cost is $50 per person; but is all inclusive for food and drink.
There will be 14 wineries represented this year. From 6:30 – 8:00 pm attendees will select one category to taste and judge. You will choose one of five categories of wine: dry white, sweet white, dry red, sweet red, or dessert wines.
At 8:00 pm everyone will cast their ballots and enjoy a glass of wine from any of the categories.. The winners will be announced Saturday morning at 11:30 am.
A special treat this year on Friday night will be an art display by Riverwind Gallery. They will be bringing art for viewing and for sale. What makes this showing unique is that every piece will be of the river, a historic home or a block of buildings in Downtown Newburgh. You will see Historic Newburgh through the eyes of an artist.
Saturday, May 18th, from noon until 9 pm, music will fill the air as you enjoy a day filled with art, food and drink. The cost is $15 per person and $25 per couple in advance. The price goes up to $20 per person and $30 per couple after May 16th. We heard your request. Everyone wants their own commemorative wine glass, so we should have plenty.
Wineries will be offering a taste of their wines; when you find what you like, you can buy it by the glass or the bottle. ERA First Advantage Realty will offer a free wine valet for those wanting to stock-up and buy by the bottle or case. We will even be having a drawing every hour, on the hour for some cool prizes compliments of ERA.
This year, we are going to have an expanded beer tent for all those non-wine drinkers. Turonis will return with tastes of their craft beer with opportunities to buy what you like.
There will be plenty to eat for lunch, snack and dinner. Buy a bottle of wine and find a picnic table on the east lawn. All this, as you enjoy the sparkling waters of the Ohio River while listening to the sounds of some cool jazz. Top off your lunch with homemade ice cream from Kiwanis Club of Historic Newburgh or a gelato from Jeannie’s Gelato. Life just doesn’t get much better.
Bill Woerz is back by popular demand with some interesting wine education classes at 1:00 and 3:00. The 1:00 topic is “Virginia is for Wines; Napa is for Auto Parts” and the 3:00 topic is “50 Shades of Grey….Adults Only, Please!” The classes are first come first serve and will only accommodate 60 people.
Romain Buick GMC will have a display of their cars, so you can spend some time dreaming or making some plans.
This is going to be an amazing event! Join us for the entire weekend as we eat, drink and dance the night away!
