Tim McGraw Takes Time to Reflect, ‘Live and Love’ on Forthcoming Album

The new year is upon us and for fans of Tim McGraw, that can only mean one thing: His new album is due out in just a little over a month. The legendary country singer recently took some time to reflect on pasting together ‘Two Lanes of Freedom,’ which will be released on Feb. 5, 2013.

As a really seasoned artist, McGraw says that with every new project comes the opportunity for some personal reflection.

“There was a transition going on in my career when we were recording this album, transition with my band. The way I did things with the management group had a transition going on so I think that all those things sort of make you reflect,” he explains. “They make you reflect on where you’ve been, but also it’s hard to sort of figure out where you wanna go until you’ve really looked at where you’ve been.”

Given McGraw’s history of selling out stadiums and creating top albums, you would think that it’s pleasant for him to look back at where he’s been. But he is quick to admit that it’s not always easy to reflect — especially given label hardships and frustratione trying to provide new music to fans in a timely manner.

“Sometimes as an artist you get so … especially as a musician, you get so busy trying to move forward, trying to make music, trying to be relevant, trying to be important about what you do and trying to really live and love what you do that you forget to sort of reflect on where you’ve been,” McGraw reveals. “I think that when you listen to this record, there’s a lot of that reflectiveness in it.”

To date, has already released two singles, ‘Truck Yeah’ and ‘One of Those Nights‘ from his upcoming album — his first at his new Big Machine home. Both songs are sitting in the top half of the country charts, and ‘Truck Yeah’ has already achieved certified gold status. If that’s any indicator of success, ‘Two Lanes of Freedom’ will go the way most of McGraw’s other albums have gone — straight to the top.

Major National Anthem Flub Before Hockey Game

The national Anthem is one of the toughest songs to sing that there is. There have been some great versions and some really bad versions over the years - Rosanne - just sayin'. We had some great versions at the Ford Center during the recent Icemen season and just the other night, a little boy did a killer version of the anthem before the Otters game at Bosse Field that was awesome... but sometimes.

GIF stands for 'Graphic Interchange Format'...whatever the heck that means, but it has changed computer animation as we know it. It has always been pronounced with a hard "g", like gift and apparently, that is absolutely WRONG...who knew?

Trace Adkins Accidentally Recorded an Album of Love Songs

'Love Will …' is the new collection of love songs from Trace Adkins. It's a project that makes complete sense, as few men in country music can match the singer's romantic baritone. Adkins says he didn't intend to make the project he ended up with, however.
