Thomas Rhett Talks Non-Country Influences and How He’ll Spend His First Million [Watch]

Thomas Rhett is celebrating the release of his debut album ‘It Goes Like This’ today (Oct. 29). The singer-songwriter (’1994,’ ‘Round Here’) is one of country music’s most promising young male stars, a truly well-rounded artist as capable of singing the party songs as he is the sensitive lovers.

Naturally, the Taste of Country Christmas Tour headliner has big plans for how he’ll blow part of his first $1 million, should he ever get there. During an interview with Taste of Country, he shared — and then told the story behind the song that got him out of the doghouse with wife Lauren.

So far, Rhett’s wild side hasn’t appeared on the radio. The sensitive title track is his biggest hit, and ‘Beer With Jesus’ was more thought-provoking than rebel-rousing. His debut single ‘Something to Do With My Hands’ is a clever love song that’s sweet in its own way. The man behind recent Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line hits says fans will hear that hip-hop-influenced, rowdy style on the full-length release, however.

Also included in this video interview: Rhett talks about how many kids he and Lauren want and shares his non-country influences. “I could never move like that,” he says about one pop singer he admires.
