If the high cost of your child’s tuition has you a nervous wreck, rest easy – there is still time to apply for Indiana’s School Voucher Program.

Indiana has doubled the number of vouchers this year from 7,500 to 15,000 because according to state officials, it was the most successful first year program in the country last year.

There are currently 17 schools currently participating in the voucher program, and if you receive a voucher, the state will cover either 50% or 90% of the tuition cost.

With most schools back in session as of next week, those Vanderburgh County residents interested in sending their children to private school are encouraged to apply immediately.

In Evansville, the program can be worth about $2,700 with a 50% voucher and about $5,000 with the 90% voucher, capping out at $4,500 for elementary and middle school – with no cap for high school.

The application deadline for the program is at the end of August.
