The ‘Wall That Heals’ Will Be On Display In Evansville This Weekend
What is the ‘Wall That Heals’? It is a traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. and it will be on display at the Westside Library Park on Franklin Street this Friday through Monday. Members of “Rolling Thunder” escorted the traveling wall into Evansville yesterday for it’s 24 hour a day display in the park. The experience of going to ‘The Wall’ is like no other and is one of the most emotional experiences you can possibly have. Jimmy Fortune of the Statler Brothers, had an experience at the wall which moved him so much, he sat down and wrote the song ‘More Than A Name On A Wall’. The opening ceremony will be at 6:30pm this Friday. There will be a candlelight vigil on Saturday at 6:30pm, a short ceremony on Sunday at 2pm and a closing ceremony at 6:30pm on Monday. You must go and take your school aged children. Listen to the Statler Brothers song below then watch the video about the ‘Wall That Heals’.
