Blake Shelton is back for another season as a coach on NBC's televised singing competition The Voice, and he recently had to make a difficult decision during the battle rounds.

In an intense battle round, fellow country singers Cody Wickline and Matt Snook faced off against each other. The pair sang a soaring rendition of Randy Houser's "How Country Feels."

Their remarkable vocal range and depth impressed all four judges, and each one had something to say about the duet.

"Matt, you came out here with so much heart," Christina Aguilera said. "I was really drawn to your energy. And Cody, I was reminded today why I pushed my button for you."

"Cody, there's like this rebellious side to your personality that I think comes through," Pharrell Williams said during the televised event. "I did more than heard your voice; I felt your presence."

"This was a great performance. I enjoyed both of these guys equally, I really did," Adam Levine said. "But I think if I'm judging just solely based on what I saw today, Matt gave the better vocal. I think Matt won this battle."

Ultimately, though, the decision came down to Shelton. "I don't like this,"  he said as he paused briefly and tried to make up his mind. "Just kinda have to go with a gut feeling of where I think he can go from here. The winner of this battle is Cody."

Wickline will advance to the Knockout Round of the competition.
