It is so hard to believe that we have so many homeless Veterans in this country and Veterans on the verge of becoming homeless. We have hundreds right here in our very own backyard, which is why our local chapter of the American Red Cross created the 'Totes for Hope' campaign. The program is designed to collect personal care items and necessities that will be packed into personal totes and then distributed to those in need.

These men and women have done so much for this country, it is mind boggling that after defending our country with their lives, they could return home and face some of the challenges they face. Nobody should have to live on the streets, especially our Veterans.

The Red Cross is trying to collect things like soap, dental floss, deodorant, gloves, socks, restaurant gift cards, rain ponchos and countless other basic necessities. There are drop-off locations all over the Tri-State including the Townsquare Media offices at 5th and Walnut in Downtown Evansville. Click here for a complete list of items and collection sites.
