This past Saturday, Kenny Chesney played a show at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium in Louisville, and I was there for my FIRST ever Kenny concert. Joining Kenny Chesney was Old Dominion, Sam Hunt, and Miranda Lambert. All powerhouse acts in country music, in which I will break down how I felt about their performances. Overall, I had a lot of fun and not even the rain could stop the party in Louisville!

Old Dominion

These guys were awesome! The crowd was into them and their music was very catchy. They had great crowd interaction and knew how to put on a show. I can honestly say that after seeing them perform, I would pay money to see a show with just them. The thing that stood out to me most is that they didn't miss a beat, even with the rain coming down, and vocally, it sounded spot on!

Sam Hunt

Okay, here's the deal: I will go on record by saying that I am not the biggest Sam Hunt fan. I decided that I would give him a solid chance on Saturday though. I went in unbiased and ready to jump on the Sam Hunt bandwagon...but that didn't happen. Sure the ladies loved the guy, but it just didn't feel like I was at a country concert. He needs to work on his stage presence a bit; play to the crowd a little more. Having said that, he wasn't terrible, just wasn't my cup of tea.

Miranda Lambert

This was my second time seeing Miranda live and she did not disappoint. If I had to have one word to describe her and her set it would be "emotion." For example, I have heard "The House That Built Me" a thousand times, but last Saturday was the first time that I really felt the words to that song. She had so much emotion and conviction with every song she sang. Miranda owned that stage during "Mama's Broken Heart," she had the crowd as fired up as she was when singing it. There is a reason why this lady has become as big as she has, and her concert last weekend solidified that.

Kenny Chesney

As mentioned before, this was my first time seeing a Kenny Chesney concert. I will be honest with you, I was never a big Kenny Chesney fan. Sure he had some songs that I liked, but that's as far as it went...until Saturday. That dude is selling out stadiums for a reason! He knew how to draw the crowd into every single song. He didn't miss a lick vocally, and he was all over that stage interacting with the crowd.  He said something that caught my attention right before he sang "I Go Back." He said: "Music is the most helpful thing that all of us have in our lives." That couldn't be more true. I found myself singing along to more of his songs than I expected. I think it is safe to say that last Saturday was the day that I became a Kenny Chesney fan.
