The Canton Inn Fire Was NOT At the Canton Inn in Evansville

If you're from the tri-state you may be seeing posts being shared all over facebook from a place called Canton Inn stating that they had a big fire and will be closed until further notice.  It's very sad, but it is NOT the Canton Inn here in Evansville. 

On November 14th, the Canton Inn Inc on Facebook posted

It is with a heavy heart that I have to say the Canton Inn had a fire Sunday night after close. Not sure what happened yet. We will be closed for some time, probably months. I'm so sorry for those of you that reservations and for the coming holiday season. I can't say how badly this effects all my employees and my family. Thank you for understanding and please share so the word will get out we're closed

People of course shared it like crazy to get the word out, but that's where the wires got crossed. Many people from the Evansville area were sharing this post, because who really thought there were two places called "Canton Inn"  but this Canton Inn is located in Hillsboro Illinois.

Hello, friends! We have received numerous messages regarding rumors of a fire at Canton Inn. We just wanted to let everyone know that the Canton Inn that was affected is located in Illinois. We appreciate your concern and hope that you all take the time to say a prayer for those who were affected by the fire. Thank you!

So the Canton Inn in Evansville is safe and sound!

While I'm thankful I can still go and enjoy some of my favorite Chinese food at Canton Inn here in Evansville, my heart goes out to all affected by the fire of the Canton Inn in Illinois.
