Everyone knows (or at least has a pretty good idea) what the city of Evansville has to offer. From restaurants to bars, to festivals and events, along with local shops, and public parks, you're sure to find something that fits your interests. But what about the rest of the Tri-State?

We know Evansville isn't the only city with something to offer in our area, but because it's the largest city, it gets the most attention. That's why we've decided to shine the spotlight on the other cities and towns with our weekly "Tour the Tri-State" series!

Every Friday at 7:00 a.m., we're selecting a different town in the Tri-State (outside of Evansville) and asking those residents to share with everyone the the best things to do in "their neck of the woods," as Al Roker would say, by calling into the show or commenting on our Facebook page. This week we take a look at Mt. Vernon (in case you didn't read the title).

Hawg 'N' Sauce received more comments than anything else on Facebook when it comes to things to do in Mt. Vernon. And for good reason. If you love barbecue, a trip to this restaurant just past the Expressway Auto Mall on the corner of Highway 62 and Leonard Road is worth the drive no matter where you live in the Tri-State. From chicken, pork, brisket, and ribs, Hawg 'N' Sauce has it all. If you don't leave there stuffed to the brim, you're doing it wrong.

The restaurant also features a patio area complete with an outdoor stage, and frequently features shows from local musicians.

If you go: Try the Chip-A-Hog. Don't let the fact it's on the appetizer menu fool you, this unique take on nachos using Hawg 'N' Sauce's own "natural-cut potato chips covered with our BBQ pulled pork, cheddar jack cheese blend, sour cream, chives and bacon" is a meal all its own.
