Etch-A-Sketch Inventor Andre Cassagnes Dies In France

Andre Cassagnes died on January 16th in a Paris suburb. His name is not immediately known by most of us, but his invention, the Etch A Sketch, is one of the most iconic toys of the last 50 years - a staple of the Ohio Art Company. Cassagnes, a French electrician, came up with the idea in 1950 after peeling a decal off of a light switch plate and noticing the graphite stuck to the plastic surface of the plate that was easily marked with a pencil.

Patti Page, legendary pop and country star has died at the age of 85 in a Southern California nursing home. Page sold more than 100 million records over her incredible career. Her most notable records were 'The Tennessee Waltz' and 'How Much Is That Doggie in the Window'. Page charted more than 81 pop hits between 1948-68, but her sound was as much appealing to country audiences as pop audiences.

Neil Reed, basketball standout at South Spencer High School and IU collapsed and died of cardiac arrest at his California home yesterday, he was 36. It was in 1997 when Reed, a junior at IU, alleged that he was choked by coach Bob Knight in practice. A videotape of that particular practice surfaced that substantiated Reed's claim against Knight.

Johnny Cash Last Surviving Original Band Member Dies At 83

Marshall Grant, the last original member of Johnny Cash's band has died at the age of 83. Grant died last weekend after suffering a brain aneurysm and is pictured above on the right.

Cash's band was known as the 'Tennessee Two" and Grant was a very important part of what would become Cash's signature sound on the bass and also served as the road manager from 1954-1980
