I had the pleasure of meeting Nikki Davis at this morning's Donut Stop with WKDQ to promote this weekend's Trucks and Heroes event. Nikki is the Executive Director at Smile on Down Syndrome and has devoted much of her life to working with those in need.

This is an opportunity offered for ALL to come out and experience the Tri-State's largest working vehicles, including police, fire, medical and military. This non-profit organization has set their goal for this event to raising $10,000 to benefit the support network they provide to meet the needs of people with down syndrome. This event is free and funds are raised through corporate sponsorship, but non-perishable food items will be accepted to help stock area food pantries.

Trucks and Heroes will take place tomorrow morning from 9am-12pm in the parking lot of Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. One thing I really like about this event is that the first hour will be lights/sirens-free for guests who cannot handle such noises. This event is not limited to those with down syndrome, all are welcome!

Be sure to make your way over to Deaconess Gateway tomorrow morning to help raise awareness in our community and meet our local heroes!
