The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office is seeking the help of anyone who might have witnessed the suspect vehicle or driver from the fatal hit and run on I-69 Friday, June 22.

The incident occurred at 10:49pm on Interstate 69 near the S. Green River Road exit. According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office:

911 callers reported seeing a man with black pants and no shirt in the southbound lanes waving his arms at passing motorists. At 10:50pm, a call to 911 Central Dispatch advised that the man was now lying in the roadway. Deputies arrived shortly after and observed a severely injured male. Deputies began CPR until relieved by an ambulance crew. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 23-year-old David William Egan of Evansville. Now, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office needs your help in identifying the suspect behind this fatal hit and run. Residents, business owners and property managers are asked to review their security camera footage from 10:45 PM on June 22, 2018 onward.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office says that the vehicle will have damage to the front end. The suspect vehicle likely fled south (west) on I-69 toward the direction of US 41. New details have emerged regarding the vehicle in question. The suspect was driving a Silver 1998-2002 Honda Accord sedan. 2-door or 4-door body style.
