Shania Twain is one of the most prolific female artists of her day, but her impressive life story has not been without its share of heartbreak. During an appearance on the television show Watch What Happens Live this week, the songstress was asked about the details of her messy split from ex-husband Robert "Mutt" Lange.

In 2008, Lange, who had been married to Twain for 15 years at the time, had an affair with one of the singer's best friends, Marie-Anne Thiebaud. The affair led to a painful and difficult divorce for the married couple, but in a strange twist of fate, Twain married Thiebaud's jilted ex-husband, Frederic Thiebaud. They have been married since 2011.

In her frank and telling autobiography From This Moment On, Twain wrote that she ran into Marie-Anne Thibaud only once after she learned of the affair. The 49-year-old singer noted that she had a "panic attack" and couldn't figure out what to say to her.

But when Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen asked Twain what she would say if she ran into her former best friend now, the singer didn't hesitate.

"I wish I'd never met you," she says matter-of-factly. "That would be it. You panic in those situations, you don't know what to do. I think there are some people in life you would say, 'I would have been better off not ever knowing that person.'"

Thankfully, however, Twain has been able to find healing and move on from the painful experience. She notes that her life is now in a good place, saying: "I learned a lot from that. I don't regret it."
