Scotty McCreery Turns Upcoming Concert Into Hurricane Sandy Benefit

Scotty McCreery is a nice guy — that’s no secret — but who knew he was so selfless? The singer has decided to turn his November 23 concert at the Beacon Theater in New York City into a benefit show, with proceeds going to aid victims of Hurricane Sandy.
“Being from North Carolina, I have seen firsthand what hurricanes can do,” McCreery says. “After seeing the devastation caused by Sandy, I wanted to figure out a way to help. And given that we have a show at the Beacon Theater the day after Thanksgiving, I thought, ‘Why not turn that New York show into a benefit?’”
The former ‘American Idol’ winner was originally scheduled to play the historic venue as a ‘Christmas With Scotty McCreery’ gig in promotion with his new album. It’s now being tagged as the Beacon Theater Benefit for Hurricane Sandy Relief.
McCreery will donate a portion of the income from his ticket sales to the World Vision’s efforts to support victims of last month’s superstorm, which left much of the east coast beaten and battered. Recovery efforts in the region are ongoing.
In addition to the monetary donation from McCreery, World Vision will also collect donations on site.
“It’s fitting that the day after Thanksgiving, we can all show how thankful we are to live in a great country where Americans help Americans in their time of need,” the ‘I Love You This Big’ singer adds. “So, I hope everyone will come out and support the Beacon Theater Benefit for Hurricane Sandy Relief. It will be a fun night and a grateful way for us all to kick off the holiday season.”
Additionally, McCreery has invited New York native and Season 10 ‘Idol’ showmate Pia Toscano to perform with him at the event, making it that much more special. “New York is my hometown and it’s been difficult to watch what has happened there to my friends and family,” says Toscano. “So when Scotty asked me to be a part of his Beacon Theater benefit performance, I jumped at the chance.”
In light of the holidays, McCreery will perform not only selections from his debut ‘Clear as Day’ album, but also songs from his holiday set, ‘Christmas With Scotty McCreery.’

‘Sixty for Sixty’ Campaign for George Strait Falls Short
George Strait turns 61 years old TODAY! The "Sixty for Sixty" campaign to get George his 60th #1 single while he was still 60 years old didn't quite make it, "Give It All We Got Tonight" has only made it to #10. But, that's OK, there is no one like George Strait and there quite possibly never will be. Several, I mean tons, of artists made videos to try and urge fans to buy the single. It is very touching. Watch them give love and admiration to the king of country music.
