Scotty McCreery Gets an Exhibit at Home State Museum

N.C. Museum of History

Fast-rising star Scotty McCreery has received a number of honors in his short career, from winning ‘American Idol‘ to a platinum album — not to mention his ACM and CMT Music Awards. But the young singer is celebrating a personal first with the unveiling of a new museum exhibit dedicated to his achievements.

The North Carolina Museum of History opened the exhibit Monday (Oct. 1) and plans to run it through Jan. 4 in celebration of McCreery’s success. The exhibit includes the black leather jacket, jeans, t-shirt and cross necklace that the North Carolina native wore when he sang ‘Live Like You Were Dying’ with Tim McGraw on ‘American Idol’ for his final duet, as well as the backstage pass his mother Judy used at the final rehearsal and last show at L.A.’s Nokia Theatre.

It also includes the lyric sheet for ‘Live Like You Were Dying,’ which is marked with S and T to indicate whether Scotty or Tim should sing each part, as well as the gold record Mercury Records presented to McCreery for his album ‘Clear as Day’ after it sold 500,000 copies.

McCreery is planning more career milestones to celebrate; the 18-year-old singer is releasing his first Christmas album on Oct. 16, and has been writing for a planned second studio album.
