Every summer, one of my favorite events is Germania Maennerchor's Volksfest. I love immersing myself in culture without leaving the tri-state. So, naturally, I was excited to learn there is another culturally charged festival that happens every year in the tri-state and they are looking for artisans and non-profits to host a booth FREE OF CHARGE!

I'm talking about the Swiss Festival in Tell City called Schweizer Fest. According to the website:

"On August 10 to 17, 1958, the citizens of Tell City decided to honor the early settlers and the founding of Tell City with a grand centennial celebration. Following the success of the Centennial, the Tell City Historical Society decided to sponsor a festival in 1959 as an experiment to determine if the community would support an annual celebration. That festival, appropriately named Schweizer Fest (Swiss Festival), was huge success.
The festival continued and in 1966 management of the festival was placed in the hands of a volunteer group incorporated as a non-profit organization, called The Tell City Schweizer Fest, Inc."

Though the 2018 event schedule has not been posted, in the past you could find an Edelweiss Ball, pageant, old timer's baseball game, vendor market, music, rides, games, traditional food, beer and wine gardens, and more! It looks so fun - especially those beer and wine gardens. :D

This year's Schweizer Fest is scheduled for August 8 - 11, 2018 so the planning is underway! If you are a vendor, artisan, or non-profit, who would like a booth at the Schweizer Fest Market, click here to apply or contact Ken Roland for details at 812-608-0651.
