Rodney Carrington’s Serious Side

Everyone knows that Rodney Carrington is one funny guy. His comedic songs are hilarious, but did you know that he has a serious side as a songwriter too?

I stumbled upon a song that Rodney had written about his friend (and fellow comedian), Barry Martin. Barry suddenly passed away a few years ago.  Just days before Barry passed, he heard Rodney play a melody on his guitar and told Rodney that it was beautiful and that he should do something with it. Upon his death, Rodney wrote a song in memory of Barry to that very tune. It is called 'Angel Friend' and it shows off Rodney's serious side as well as song writing skills.
