Rascal Flatts’ Jay DeMarcus Gets His Own Radio Show

Jay DeMarcus is no one-trick pony. In addition to being a mega-talented bassist and vocalist for Rascal Flatts, DeMarcus is about to flex his radio personality skills, too. The Nashville star has landed his very own radio show, ‘The Jay DeMarcus Show: Live From Flatts Shack’ on iHeartRadio’s Big Machine channel. The 60-minute program will debut on Thursday, June 28.
DeMarcus will use his hour-long slot to interview special guests and tell stories about life on the road with his famed ‘Easy’ trio.
“I’m very excited for the opportunity to have my own radio show! It’s going to be fun to have the forum to discuss whatever I want to, without two other Rascals constantly interrupting me!” DeMarcus said, according to Country Music Is Love.
Of course, DeMarcus is joking about his fellow bandmates bothering him, but it sounds like he’s taking his new radio gig pretty seriously. The multi-skilled player will kick off the inaugural episode of ‘The Jay DeMarcus Show’ by interviewing Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen and Grammy-nominated songwriter James Slater. Slater contributed to the writing of Rascal Flatts’ hit, ‘Unstoppable.’
“I’ve been trying to get Jay in front of a microphone for some time now,” notes Clay Hunnicutt, Senior Vice President of Clear Channel Programming. “His natural ability to hold court — and tell compelling stories in the process — makes him the perfect fit for a format such as this. Each week listeners will be treated to compelling content, and I for one can’t wait to hear the show each week.”
Jay’s wife, Allison, will provide brief entertainment tidbits in between his segments. The pair are expecting baby No. 2 any time now.
You’ll have to tune in to the radio show on June 28 at 5PM ET to hear just how well DeMarcus can spin a yarn. If you miss out, don’t fret, as reruns of the radio show will be available on Big Machine Radio each week.

Major National Anthem Flub Before Hockey Game
The national Anthem is one of the toughest songs to sing that there is. There have been some great versions and some really bad versions over the years - Rosanne - just sayin'. We had some great versions at the Ford Center during the recent Icemen season and just the other night, a little boy did a killer version of the anthem before the Otters game at Bosse Field that was awesome... but sometimes.
