Popular Local Twitter Account “Fake Mayor Lloyd Winnecke” Will No Longer Post

There's a hugely popular (and totally hilarious) Twitter account called @Evv_fake_mayor is a hilarious parody of our Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke.  Recently posting on the account has slowed, and today a very sad update was posted.

While the parody account was all in fun, the account usually posted hilarious and witty tweets about things going on in the community.

Today in a series of tweets the account posted this:

Dear followers, this message comes to you from Mrs. Fake Mayor. Several weeks ago my husband became very ill.After after fighting to heal for more than six weeks the Fake Mayor lost his battle. He loved the account, and though I still will not reveal his name I feel he deserves credit for his wit. I hope all of the Fake Mayors followers understand that he held the mayor and his staff in the highest regards. And so we say goodbye to his genius. I will leave this account up, but this will be the final post.

This is so sad.  I followed this Twitter account and had some really great laughs because of it.  If you get a chance read through, and see some of the funny content he posted over the years.
