French Lick Indiana

If you’re up to a bit of a road trip, try out French Lick Resort in West Baden Springs Indiana. They're offering a variety of Autumn-themed activities in the month of October. Such as; hiking, biking, horseback riding, and boating all throughout the month for the adventurous outdoor lovers. For the festival fans, you wont be left out. The 47th Annual Orange County Pumpkin Festival will be held October 1st through the 5th. The festival includes a multitude of doings, like a carnival, food and vender booths, a flea market, and a parade that Sunday of the festival. The approximated travel time from Owensboro to French Lick is right at an hour and a half. A good trip that’ll encompass the whole day!

Reid’s Orchard

Owensboro, Kentucky

For a more local holiday, try a day-cation at Reid’s Orchard off of Kentucky 144. Reid’s Apple Festival is just around the corner! The third weekend in October to be exact. While your there look for their famous apples, Indian corn, pumpkins and gourds, fall mums, and of course, fresh apple cider. The Apple Festival is an event for the whole family, so everyone come on out! There’ll be 20 food booths, an impressive 90 craft booths and carnival rides. The festival has been named a top 10 event by the Kentucky Tourist Council and a top 20 event by the Southeast Tourism Society that covers 11 different states.

42nd Annual GRADD Arts & Crafts Festival
Henderson, Kentucky

Consider yourself to be the artsy kind? Have a flair for crafts perhaps? Well head on over to the GRADD (Green River Area Developmental District) Arts and Crafts Festival. It runs October 4th and 5th. Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival will hold an assortment of artisan and craftsman booths, Artist demonstrations, food, live music, hayrides, and a choice of children’s activities. This all takes place at John James Audubon State Park in Henderson, Kentucky on Us Highway 41. Come on out, they’ll be happy to see you!

Wesselman Nature Society

Evansville, Indiana

The Wesselman Nature Society in Evansville, Indiana is hosting a Harvest Festival and Hayride on Saturday October 11th from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The cost is $5.00 per person and children 2 and under get in free. The festival has an awesome selection of things to do and participate in. It’s scare-free and family friendly so even the little ones will have something to do and enjoy. There’s a hefty list of things to do; Horse-drawn hayrides, guided night hikes, animal programs, stargazing, insect encounters, cider press demonstrations, a campfire and other various activities and crafts for children.

Jackson’s Orchard

Bowling Green, Kentucky

Thinking about heading south for fall break? Consider stopping off in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Jackson’s Orchard is open for fall adventure starting September 27th & 28th until the last weekend in October, the 25th and the 26th. They have wagon rides out to the pumpkin patch where you and your young one’s and pick their very own pumpkins. There’s a corn maze, pony rides, a straw castle, face and hair paintings, moonwalk, woodcrafts, the goat ranch and the Cider Slide (a slide for the kids). They have a hotdog cart and Carmel apples. Hours of operation are Saturday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
