Pistol Annies Get Praise From Neil Young

The Pistol Annies have already earned a chart-topping debut album, and their single ‘Hell on Heels’ went gold, selling over 500,000 copies. Now, Miranda Lambert, Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe are on a natural high after getting some top praise from Neil Young in his recently released book, Waging Heavy Peace: A Hippie Dream.
Presley posted an exclusive excerpt from the book on her Twitter page, highlighting a passage in which Young applauds the all-female trio’s songwriting skills and talks up their song ‘Takin’ Pills’ in a very down-to-earth fashion:
I have been clean now for seven months. That is a good long time. I still feel cravings. Maybe I’d like a beer, maybe a joint. I heard the Pistol Annies sing about reasons they’re broke and so who would invest in their future? One’s drinkin’, one’s smokin’, one’s taking pills. Well they are writing their a–es off, I know that. I haven’t written a song in more than half a year, and that is different for me. Of course, I’ve written over 90,000 words in this book, and that is different for me, too.
Presley returned the words of admiration via Twitter, gushing to Young, “You are one of the greats who taught me how to ‘write my a– off.’ I kindly and humbly thank you.” She also shared a tangible example of Young’s influence on her musical upbringing. “Uncle Bobby used to sit on Mamaw’s porch and perform ‘Harvest’ in its entirety (every song & lick) I listened and learned,” she revealed.
The Annies also hit shared a virtual thank you from all three of them. “Thank You @neilyoung for publicly appreciating our lyrics,” they wrote. “We about peed our pants when we read your compliment. Your art inspires our art.”
You know you’ve made it when…

Female Arm Wrestler Has a Scream That Will Scare the Pants Off of You
I am NOT athletic at all. So, my tactic to win or at least appear like some sort of competition to my opponent is to look the part or sound the part. This female arm wrestler must have taken a play right out of the Leslie Morgan play book. Rule number 1....make your bark SO big, they won't notice you have no bite!! ;-)
Her scream would scare even the biggest, toughest male arm wrestler!

‘Sad Cat Diary’ Offers Hilarious Insight Into the Mind of a Cat
As, you know, Jon refers to me as 'The Cat Lady' on the air. Just because I adopted my first cat a year ago and have since acquired 7 more, doesn't make me a cat lady. Or does it??? ;-) Ok, I know it would appear that I, if I'm not the cat lady NOW, I am well on my way. In the past year, I have become very in tune with cats and all of their personalities. Maybe that's why I love them so much and they, in turn, are drawn to me. lol
I found a video that gives a little insight to the mind of the sad cat (which is only ONE of their many personalities) Watch, learn and laugh!! It's seriously, hilarious!

Forget (if you haven't already) milking, planking, hadokening, any of those-ings that were internet fads for a hot minute. They've been replaced. They're done. Koalaing -- that's the trick o' the day. It involved clinging as tightly to a pole or tree as possible like a koala. It's pretty adorable. Check it out.

Remember When George Strait Went to Prison?
It was the wildest show behind bars, and George Strait was in the thick of it for one year in the early '80s. He wasn't the only one. Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Tom T. Hall … they all did time behind the walls of the Huntsville Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
