New Study – Marriages Are Happier When Wife Is Thinner Than Husband

According to new research from the University of Tennessee, marriages where the wife is thinner than the husband tend to be happier than the other way around. Additionally, husbands whose BMI, (body mass index), was higher than their wives were happier at the start of a marriage as opposed to the same or lower BMI than their wives. We have even seen that on TV with shows like the ‘Honeymooners’, ‘King of Queens’, ‘All In The Family’ and many others where this was the case. It also appears that it’s not just the husband who is happier if his wife is thinner, after four years of marriage, wives whose BMI was lower than their husbands were much happier than those wives whose BMI was the same or higher than their husbands. It should be noted that weight difference is not a firm indicator either way as to happy you will or won’t be, but this should take pressure off some women who feel they need to fit into size zero jeans to be attractive to their husbands. Some heavier women may take issue with this study, but these findings held true even when factors such as income level and depression were ruled out. One of the researchers, Doctoral Candidate Andrea Melzer, told ABC News, “the great take-home message from our study is that women of any size can be happy in their relationships with the right partner. It’s relative weight that matters, not absolute weight. It’s not that they have to be small”. So all we have to do guys is stayer bigger than our wives and wedded bliss is ours.Booyah!
