From the campus of USI to Boonville, Indiana, roundabouts are things that some Tri-State residents are learning to become familiar with. Of course the most used roundabouts in the area are the two on the northside of Evansville at Millersburg and Oak Hill and Kansas and Oak Hill.

The Boonville By-Pass Project will include a three roundabouts. One currently at Eskew Road and Millersburgh Road, New Harmony Road and Eskew, and State Route 61 and New Harmony. Some people are in favor of this, while others aren't a fan of them. According to INDOT,  roundabouts reduce potential accident points within an intersection and  improves traffic flow.

That being said, there is a new law that will come into effect that will chance the way that Indiana drivers will approach roundabouts. You might want to take note of this. According to Eyewitness News, "starting July 1, drivers will have to yield to semi trucks while driving inside a roundabout."

The reason behind this new law is to make it easier and safer for trucks to exit. It's a law that you really want to know about and abide by because if you are caught not giving the right of way to trucks, you could have a $500 fine!

On the other hand, if you are a truck driver, you also want to be aware of this new law. As a truck driver, if you approach a round about and another truck is near, there is a specific law for that. If two trucks are driving side-by-side in a roundabout, the truck on the right must yield to the one on the left.
