Parents of children, be aware that a new bacterial illness is spreading through Indiana. Though it has mostly been seen in Central Indiana, it could and probably will show up here in Southern Indiana and Western Kentucky before long. Two-hundred and sixty cases have already been confirmed in the state.

Shigellosis is its name and diarrhea, fever, cramps, nausea and vomiting is its sick, twisted game. Plus, it is spread through fecal matter so wash your hands and make sure your kids are doing the same. We all know those little poop factories get that stuff everywhere, so it's important for parents to be on the lookout and help little hands scrub, scrub, SCRUB!

Most importantly, if your child's diarrhea lasts for more than a day, take him or her to the doctor. If untreated, the symptoms can last a month or longer and that sounds simply awful, for everyone!
