As a child, my mother would take me to visit friends and family at the hospital. I anticipated the treat of looking at the new babies through the nursery glass. I have always been captivated by newborn babies.  Our new hospital has a new modern Mother-Baby unit. The procedures for visiting have changed. Following are some tips to prepare for your visit.

Security - keeping those babies safe!

All visitors "check in" and will be asked for identifications, so bring that along for your visit.

All persons other than the mother, her infant, and a designated support person will be encouraged to leave the unit so that family may rest. Each day from 1:00 - 2:30 pm is Cuddle Time!

Cuddle Time Procedures:

  • Hallway lighting will be dimmed and  announcement made encouraging visitors to leave.
  • Nursing staff will only enter rooms when requested by the patient.
  • If you plan to sleep during this time, put the baby in the crib 'Back to Sleep'.
  • Kangaroo Care (skin- to- skin) bonding is encouraged for Mother and Baby.
